WHAT’S THE PROBLEM AND WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT IT?

WHAT’S THE PROBLEM AND WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT IT?

Last year we ran a census in our town to gather statistics from the children who currently call the streets their home.

Here are just some of the results:

87.5% of children living on the streets of Kakamega want help to leave the streets today.

We are here to help! When a child makes the decision to leave the streets, we celebrate but their journey does not end here. Our team begins a long process of searching for homes, family therapy and community preparation. Follow up care is provided for each reintegrated child and family, as we continue to cheer them on for as long as they need.

75% of children living on the streets of Kakamega indicated that their basic need to feel love was not being met.

Our team provides regular contact sessions for the street connected children of our town. This shows each child that they are valued and that they are worth working for. This act of love helps break the negative beliefs that sometimes holds back the process of reconciliation with family. Every child is worthy to be loved!

100% of children living on the streets of Kakamega live in Fear.

Our team deliver specialised group therapy sessions, giving them the opportunities to learn how to recognise feelings of fear and risk. Helping each child identify potentially harmful situations and helping them to stay safe.
