Ever wondered what a home visit looks like for our life changing social workers and the families that they are connecting with?
Here is a post written by one of our team, about just one of the many follow up visits that took place last week.
“Yesterday, our team did home and school visits for one of our reintegrated street boys, *Peter.
He was pleased to see them at school and he shared how his experience at school was going so far, mentioning that he was picking up the pace alright.
His teacher remarked on his willingness to learn and his discipline. She is optimistic that in due time he will grow well, especially in the class work that’s still challenging for him due to the many missed lessons whilst on the streets.
At home the team got to engage with Peter’s Aunty, who reported great progress in his character and social skills. The uncle and she are happy to have him in the family and he gets to have more family time with his cousins.
For Peter, having siblings to grow with and receiving fair treatment makes him a happy soul. Having a place to call home that he’s proud of has in a big way contributed to his increased confidence and self esteem.
Even though Peter joined school at a later age and is behind his peers, his future is very promising given his zeal for education, evident in the flash in his eyes, and the bright smile on his face.”
