Here we go again!
Every time we head back to Kenya, we take off the sparkly wedding rings that we presented to each other on the day that we were married. We swop them for the less glamorous and less tempting enamel coated titanium rings, that continue to be a symbol of our love and commitment.
It’s kind of how we feel about leaving each time too. For six weeks, eight weeks, sometimes even longer, we get to spend time with some people that we consider to be precious and priceless. People that will stay precious and priceless regardless of time, circumstance or distance.
We love our life. We love the joy that it brings to us and to our child. We love the journey that we get to adventure together as a family. We love the people that we get to meet and the transforming stories that we get to be a part of. We love the precious people on the other side too!
However we would be lying if we said that days like today didn’t feel unglamorous and less tempting. Days like today are hard. Not because we don’t like our own adventure because we really do! We just wish that taking off the sparkly didn’t suck so much.
Trust in the Lord your God.
